I amCarmel of Carmel Clarke Creations and a qualified Designer Dressmaker, based in Eltham, Melbourne.
I started sewing and doing all things crafty when I was about 8 years old and was very much encouraged by my beautiful Mum Lorraine, and both my Grandmothers. I was also fortunate enough to have some great sewing and textiles teachers throughout my Primary and Secondary schooling.
My Year 10 work experience was working in the local fabric store which then became my first part-time job while at school.
After completing a Designer Dressmaking course (including Small Business Management), I opened a business on the day I turned 19 years old in my hometown of Colac, Victoria.
Throughout my career I have also worked for a Fashion Designer; in creating bridal wear; corporate wear; another couple of stints in fabric stores; in children’s wear retail management and then became a secondary teacher including teaching textiles.
My love of sewing and creating things with my hands has always been my love and I hope I get to share this with you.
